Canvas Junkies a Paint and Sip in Reno Nevada is owned and operated by longtime local Reno residents, Kathy and Jim Johnson. Kathy‘s career has been as a Washoe County School teacher and she has a Master’s Degree in Arts in Education. She is one of our art instructors and manages the creative side of the business. Jim has been in management in the hospitality industry most of his career and manages Canvas Junkies. “Both of us have lived in Reno since we were young kids, attended local schools: Clayton, Billinghurst, Hug High, Wooster High, UNR, and have worked in the casino industry: Harrah’s, Peppermill, Eldorado, and The Grand Sierra for a number of years as well. We love to laugh, dance, and share good times with our friends.” Canvas Junkies’ décor includes pieces of our lives, memories, and part of the local flavor. Our tables and bar are made from repurposed Greenbrae Bowling Lanes that were located in Sparks, (cool). We’ve included antiques, local gaming tables as well as memorabilia from our love of skiing and outdoor sports.” The idea of Canvas Junkies grew out of Jim’s creative side in building and Kathy’s love of painting and the arts ever since her first paint and sip experience. We hope you enjoy our new adventure with us in one of the most popular and growing entertainment experiences happening today.
