    Two weeks into my weight loss journey, I started walking one single 18 minute mile at a time. I went a little bit faster and longer each day, and the dogs were loving it. Two months in and 12 lbs down, my friend from San Diego sent me a message and told me I should be so excited because her friend Allison was opening a Club Pilates in Reno. I didn’t even know what Pilates was, but I knew I rejected most any other workout, and I needed to enhance my efforts with a movement routine. What did I have to lose? I tried a Club Pilates class. I was hooked on day 1! Since that first day, I have taken 900+ classes, and my body has completely changed and morphed! I constantly Do Pilates. Do Life. For real. I still take 4-5 Pilates classes a week, and I cross train with a 4-7 mile walk 3 days a week. I hike in the Sierra, kayak small alpine lakes, SUP paddle, and indoor rock climb to cross train and keep my exercise exciting and interesting too! My golf rotation has drastically changed, improving my golf game tremendously! Pilates has strengthened and lengthened my body. I now understand and control my movement and posture constantly. My sleep patterns are regular. The tone of my day is perfectly set when I start my day with Pilates. My endurance is high, and I have embraced a truly active lifestyle. The benefits have been immeasurable. 77 lbs later, 66 inches lost, .5 inches gained in height, down to a size 6/S, with 118/78 blood pressure and vastly improved cholesterol numbers, and well below my physician set goal weight. True healthy weight loss, and MAINTENANCE, is a multi-pronged lifestyle approach. It’s finding a healthy respect for your body and food, keeping food exciting and tasty and easy and fresh. It’s moving EVERY SINGLE DAY, and finding exercise and functional activity that excite you. It’s hydrating with water, in my case, 100oz a day. It’s exposing your weight loss journey so that you have accountability at every turn. And it’s stepping on the scale each week, in my case, 210 Tuesdays later, still sitting in my Weight Watchers meeting! Its finding passion in food and activity and sharing. My journey continues as I constantly rave about the magic of Pilates, and inspire others to take a single step towards loving themselves and thanking their body! Allison, the founder of Club Pilates and former owner of my studios in Reno encouraged me to participate in Club Pilates Teacher Training, and I received my official Certification in December 2017. My love and understanding of the discipline grows every single day. I teach the 6 am class each morning, and have a loyal following that continues to grow. I coach and mentor women and men on their body appreciation and health ventures and I absolutely love it. Had I not walked into that Club Pilates class those many months ago, I would have never known what my body and mind were capable of. In September of 2018 I was given the opportunity to take over the NNV Club Pilates studios as their new owner! I proudly share the gift of Pilates and continue to bring positivity forward encourage people to Do Life!

    Pilates Instructor and Brand Ambassador

    Chandra is a published and syndicated Pilates and dance arts writer, with a certification in the Pilates Method with DK Body Balancing at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, which focuses on rehabilitation. She recently taught as a Dance Adjunct with Truckee Meadows Community College for two years. She earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Dance from UNLV and maintained a professionalcdance career for over twelve years of experience in the professional circuit. She has worked with networks: such as, HBO, Warner Bros. Television, Fox Entertainment, MTV, Charo Entertainment and much more. She had to retire as a professional dancer due to Lumbar Stenosis, Spondylolisthesis, bulging discs and Scoliosis, which resulted to a massive spinal injury to her lumbar region of the back that caused the lower half of her body to be paralyzed for a short period of time. As any athlete she continued to dance as her sensation came back to her legs, which resulted in a crack in her spine and led to a lumbar laminectomy – spinal fusion of the L5-S1 region of the back with two discs removed and a right hip realignment. Chandra started her Pilates passion when she was 19 years old at UNLV, and she was determined to heal her self from her surgery and continue to help others that may suffer from the same pain as she has. Her passion for the Pilates Method is seen with her clients that have found relief from hip surgeries, shoulder replacements, spinal injuries, lower back pain, postural concerns, balance and stabilization issues and learning how to breathe properly. She helps those that may feel that can’t do Pilates do to their age, weight or lack of movement. With a strong focus in learning how to practice the Pilates Method that best suits the body in front of her. "My mentor Dolly Kelepecz-Momot always stated to me: 'Do not identify yourself by your injury, your injury doesn’t defy you or identify you…' She instilled in me that just because you are injured or may have a surgery, it’s up to each individual to stay positive with positive affirmations about yourself, there is room for change, but we have to be willing to walk through the next door of our life.     Fitness and dance are my life and lifestyle. I've been a dancer since I could walk and took my first mat Pilates class at age 16 before it was called Pilates! Since we live in a world where people sit for a great deal of their day in cars and offices, I teach dynamic classes that propel the heart, body, and soul out of their cramped positions for an hour or so a day. I teach a variety of ability levels as well as age levels and love them all! My intent is to give a fun class that will inspire students to keep coming back for more. Yet, I design a class that a student will be successful as well as challenged. Club Pilates gives me that opportunity. I have the attributes of a typical Aquarian woman - especially that of creativity. I love the outdoors in all aspects and often go out of my way to hike in areas where I will find my spirit animal - falcons and hawks! Also a lover of cats - wild, free and our several hours cats! Every moment is import and I search for enlightenment as my quest and and to help and love my family with all my heart!

    I love Pilates! I started my Pilates journey over 3 years ago. I felt my health declining rapidly and needed the motivation to get my body moving to start bettering my health. I came across Club Pilates and figured I'd give it a chance. I fell in love! I am amazed at how challenged my body and mind felt and how welcoming I was to that positive change. I felt muscles I had never felt before. I was gaining strength, flexibility, toning, and finding physical control and mental clarity. As I continued taking classes, noticing my health improving, I decided I needed to start working again. I started working at Club Pilates. In the past I have worked as a Behavioral Therapist working with children with Autism and earned a Bachelor's Degree from UNR in Psychology, focusing on Addiction Treatment. I enjoy helping people in any way I can. With the right motivation and encouragement I enrolled in the Club Pilates Teacher Training Program in 2017. I have been teaching ever since and absolutely love what I do! I work with the most amazing people, Instructors and Clients alike, I couldn't ask for anything more. It's fascinating to experience the physical and mental changes Pilates has brought to my life, and even more so to view those changes through others. I firmly believe in Club Pilates, DO PILATES. DO LIFE. Pilates allows me to live my life to the fullest, in and out of the studio!

    Hello Reno! I am excited to be part of the Club Pilates NNV family! I was first exposed to Pilates as a classically trained dancer. Mat and Reformer Pilates were supplemental to my dance technique and as I transitioned into college, it became imperative for keeping my body healthy, strong and free of injury amidst long hours of rehearsals and training. Shortly after graduating from Florida State University, I embarked on one of my most exciting endeavors- I wanted to teach the method and practice that had so largely benefitted me as an athlete and an artist. My training began in my hometown of South Florida and has followed me to the beautiful Reno area. I've had the opportunity to work with clients of all ages, levels and lifestyles and look forward to sharing my knowledge with many, many more! I welcome clients with various goals and encourage each student to apply what they learn at Club Pilates to their everyday life.     I first started taking Pilates about 3 years ago when I was a student at the University of Nevada, Reno. Our new gym offered free classes to students so I decided to try it out and I was immediately hooked! I saw my body change and gained so much body awareness in such a short amount of time! After I graduated college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do so I decided I would focus on something I loved: Pilates. That’s when I enrolled in the Teacher Training program at Club Pilates!     Pilates became a big part of my life about 2 years ago. I have always tried to stay active playing sports in high school to trying new types of workouts such as kickboxing, yoga, and group training workouts, but nothing sparked a fire. I was interested in trying Pilates because my Aunt had been in the Pilates and yoga industry for awhile and I could see the benefit of not only physical health but mental health as well! With Pilates we use mind body awareness with every move we do. And boy did it light my fire! I was certified here in Reno and have been teaching for about a year now, so there is still so much to learn! I love to expand my knowledge and learn new workouts for not only myself but for my clients, so I am certain Club Pilates is the perfect place for me.
